Eyelets on seat and back cushions

Eyelets on the sides of the cushions serve as fastening points – for hooks, straps or turn-button fasteners. They reinforce the cover and ensure the cushions stay securely in place even in rough seas.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

How is a snap fastener attached to a boat?

The upper part is set in the fabric of the hood or cushion. The lower part is available with a screw – it is screwed directly into the hull, wood or other solid materials.

Which eyelets are suitable for tarpaulins and boat covers?

For tarpaulins and boat covers, we recommend eyelets with washer. For tarpaulins, there are also K eyelets, which hold without a washer – find out more on the page Saddlery, leather & tarpaulin goods.

Which machine is right for me?

For one-offs and repairs, the hand screw press Mod. 4 AF is ideal; for small series, the pneumatic machine T12. For larger quantities, we recommend the fully automatic attaching machine M11 – for eyelets and washers, and in a variant also for snap fasteners.

How long does delivery take?

Stock items are generally delivered within 1–3 working days.

For special products and custom versions, the delivery time is usually around 2–4 weeks.

Do the snap fasteners rust in salt water?

For use on board, we recommend corrosion-resistant versions, for example in stainless steel. We will be happy to advise you on the right finish for your application.

How do I attach straps on deck?

With the screw-on swivel eye plate – it holds straps and lines securely on the boat.

Can the hood be released quickly?

Yes. The upper part sits in the fabric, the lower part on the boat – the hood can be released in a few simple steps for airing or packing away.

What is a Tenax button?

The Tenax button holds tarpaulins and covers securely in place and can still be released with one hand: press the ring down with two fingers and pull the upper part off at the same time. The matching lower parts are available for screwing on.

Find out more under Turn buttons & Tenax.

Which eyelets are suitable for sails and heavily loaded boat covers?

For this we recommend grommet eyelets: their toothed washer grips deep into the fabric, so the eyelet does not tear out or twist even under high tensile load, wind and vibration. Made of brass, they are corrosion-resistant and ideal in and around water.

Find out more under Grommet eyelets.

Are there waterproof connections for use on board?

Yes. The snap fasteners Star 4, Super 2 and Super 3 are available as an Aqua version with sealing washer. In addition, sealing rings prevent water from penetrating through the opening around the eyelet or snap fastener.

Find out more under Washers & sealing rings.

Which assortment is suitable for repairs to covers and cushions?

The basic assortment 599A with hand screw press Mod. 4 AF, snap fasteners, eyelets and tools is ideal for repairs to covers and cushions. In addition, the large eyelet assortment 599F contains silver eyelets with washers in 10, 12 and 15 mm including matching tools.
